Undone – kNOWing Eva
A spiraling loop of guitar riffs and reefs stratified with meaning
by Sara Cvetanovska
“Knowing Eva” is the title of the emerging album of Undone. It is a lullaby that awakens the listener in a dream world where everything comes out of nothing, where a tiny light that shines from the darkness, reaches the mind crawling with creepers through the bottomless eyes and burns away in an everlasting fire of the hearth. It is following the eternal road leading to nowhere, from the beginning at one and the end in another black hole, in a spiraling loop of guitar riffs and reefs stratified with meaning.
The poetry of the lyrics points out as much as pointing in towards the word/sign/mark itself, plays with the words as it leaps between worlds, it creates while negotiating the process of creation, its limitless, endless and unfinishable nature. It is a écriture feminine par excellence that rises out and reaches out to the female nature and the femininity of the nature. It shows the ambivalence of the woman nurturer and the knowledge seeking woman, the ephemeral nature of the human life and the endless efforts on both these paths. It explores the blessing, the curse and all the in between possibilities of being Eva. These are words seeking for contact while searching deep inside one`s own existence. Birth, death, water, rock, house, skull, mother, child, fireflies, darkness, electric breath and starting heart, bread, soldiers, dreams, fingers in cream, musical socks, power stations and other strong metaphors parade in this soothing and unsettling parade of poetic truth.
The music is sensitive and sensible, tender and harsh. The fragile voice of Ronit Bergman brings through strong messages both musically and poetically. With sounds borrowed from the nature, it grows its roots through the flower power and goes through the brightest moments of some dark sounds of the 80`s and 90`s, to arrive fresh and sound in the music of contemporary. This album is a proof that the r`n`roll is not dead, and the love will carry us on.
